“Flock and Shadow,” a new collection of poetry by Michael Hettich '75, was to be published this month by New Rivers Press.
A “stunning collection spanning more than 20 years,” the book “traces the journey of a man –son, husband, father, poet — as he struggles to find meaning and comfort in a harsh universe. In these poems, Hettich questions, challenges, and examines the trials and triumphs of life,” a reviewer has said.
After receiving his BA at Hobart, Hettich went on to earn a master's at the University of Denver and a doctorate in English and American literature from the University of Miami. He is a professor of English and Creative Writing at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus and has received a literature fellowship from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.
Hettich, who lives in Miami with his family, has published 12 books and chapbooks; also published this year was “Swimmer Dreams,” published by Turning Point and winner of The Tales Prize.
