Applications for Day on the Hill 2015 will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 24.
The annual event offers a select group of students the unique opportunity to mingle with politicians, alums and friends of the Colleges while seeing firsthand the inner workings of life in our nation’s capital.
In conjunction with the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Learning, Associate Professor DeWayne Lucas and Professor Iva Deutchman, both of the Political Science Department, select 15 to 20 students to travel to Washington D.C. each January. Participants attend talks by politicians and alums who work around the Hill, discover what it takes to get a job in the nation’s capital, and discuss the day-to-day routine of D.C. life.
In addition to tours of the FBI and the Secret Service, past events have included inside looks the Washington Post, the Council on Foundations and the Heritage Foundation; meetings at the Ripon Society and the U.N. Foundation; cocktails with Congressmen; and the opportunity to learn about internship and job prospects by networking with alums, parents and friends of the Colleges.
Day on the Hill 2015 will take place from Monday, Jan. 12 through Wednesday, Jan. 14.
