This weekend Hobart and William Smith Colleges will host a number of sporting events, including Heron soccer and swimming and diving, Statesmen football and ice hockey, an HWS sailing regatta, and more.
The William Smith soccer team will host the first and second rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship on Nov. 15 and 16. The Herons will take on Keene State on Cozzens Field on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m.
The other first round game between TCNJ and Allegheny will be played at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a spot in the third round.
The Herons earned the Liberty League’s automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament after winning their eighth straight conference championship.
Hobart football will attempt to close out its third consecutive undefeated regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15, when it hosts the University of Rochester in the annual Centennial Cup game. Kickoff at Boswell Field is set for 12:05 p.m.
The William Smith swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Saturday when they host SUNY Cobleskill and Cazenovia at Bristol Pool. The tri-meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The Herons are currently 3-1.
The Statesmen ice hockey team will heat up the ice on Nov. 14 and 15. Hobart will play Nazareth on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Utica at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Cooler in downtown Geneva.
The Hobart and William Smith sailing team will host the Atlantic Coast Championship this weekend. The co-ed team will compete out of Bozzuto Boathouse on Seneca Lake, while the women’s team will take part in the Atlantic Coast Women’s Championship in Cambridge, Mass.
In addition to the sporting events, Hobart Athletics will host its Hall of Fame dinner on Saturday night. The dinner honors alumni who excelled in athletics during their time at HWS and have greatly contributed to the community thereafter.
