The William Smith College squash team posted a perfect 3-0 record this weekend in the 2015 Smith College Round Robin in Northampton, Mass. The Herons topped Connecticut College 6-3 and downed Smith 8-1 on Friday and defeated the host Pioneers again 8-1 this afternoon.
In its first match of the round robin, William Smith picked up wins at Nos. 4-9. Senior Andrea Tran registered an 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 11-8 triumphs at No. 4. Sophomore Delaney Teceno picked up an 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 win at No. 5. Sophomore Brooke Hayes topped her competition 11-9, 12-14, 12-10, 11-6 at No. 6 and first-year Anna Worcester earned an 11-8, 11-7, 11-2 victory at No. 7. At No. 8 junior Justine Shank recorded an 11-1, 11-6, 11-8 victory and senior Molly Doran won 11-9, 11-5, 11-7 at No. 9.
Next the Herons downed the host Pioneers 8-1 on Friday evening. Smith picked up a 3-0 win at No. 1, but the Herons came out on top at Nos. 2-9. Sophomore Allie Rubin, first-year Michaelann Denton, and Tran won 3-0 at Nos. 2-4, respectively. Teceno won 3-1 at No. 5 and Hayes, Worcester, Shank and Doran notched 3-0 wins at Nos. 6-9, respectively.
Today, William Smith posted a second 8-1 win over Smith. Once again the Pioneers earned the win at the top spot and the Herons secured the victory with 3-0 wins at Nos. 2-9.
William Smith (10-3) will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 3, when it hosts Hamilton at 6 p.m.
