Laird speaks at Cornell University

Neil Laird, HWS assistant professor of geoscience, was the guest speaker for a Nov. 14 seminar hosted by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University.

His presentation discussed a climatology of lake-effect snow events that have occurred on the Finger Lakes over the past 10 years.

Much of the research was conducted during the 2005 HWS summer research program with Helen Carr '07 and Ryan Sobash, who graduated from Penn State in 2005.

Laird, who joined the faculty in 2004, holds a bachelor's degree from State University of New York at Oswego, and his master's and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
