Julia Russell Eells '81 was recently named the Head of School at Lincoln School in Providence, R.I., an all-girls Quaker preparatory school.
She has been on the staff at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Conn., and at The Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Conn. After leaving HWS, where she began her career as an assistant director of admissions, she earned a master's degree in humanities from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
Eells and her husband, John C. Eells, a former music teacher at Miss Porter's School, and the founder/director of the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut, are the parents of a daughter who is a senior at Gettysburg College and a son who is a senior at Westminster School, in Connecticut.
Eells is perhaps best known at these Colleges as the daughter of Allan M. and Marjorie S. Russell; he taught physics at HWS for many years, served as provost and dean of the faculty from 1967 to 1972, and retired from teaching in 1997.
