The Student Life and Leadership Office has presented the Leader of the Month Award for November to the Steering Committee for the Women’s Collective Conference: Stephanie Feinman, Katy Goodrich, Veronica Mora, Minnie Muzquiz and Leanne Roncolato.
These women “embody the leadership skills and spirit that Hobart and William Smith students strive to achieve.” The collective is dedicated to raising awareness about women’s issues including domestic violence and sexism, creating a safe space through the Women’s Resource Center and advocating others to get involved with issues that affect them on a day-to-day basis.
This group of dedicated students organize annual events including Take Back the Night, a march protesting against violence towards women.
A committee recently organized the first Women’s Collective Conference, “Searching for the Sunlight: From the Roots to the Future, Building an Inclusive Feminist Movement,” which presented opinions and perspectives of women who historically have been left out of the feminist agenda.
Those who would like to nominate someone for the Leader of the Month for December should submit a nomination by Dec. 16, by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting “a href=”http://www.hws.edu/studentlife/campuslife/sll/lom.asp”>http://www.hws.edu/studentlife/campuslife/sll/lom.asp.
