Hobart College sophomore goalie Jackson Brown was named the Northeast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday, March 23rd.
Brown improved to 4-3 on the year by holding defending NEC champion Bryant to just six goals as Hobart prevailed 7-6 in overtime. For the fifth time this season, he hit double digits in the saves column, finishing with 10 saves against the Bulldogs. Brown recorded seven of his 10 stops in the first half, keeping the Statesmen in striking distance at halftime, trailing 3-1. He also made the only save of overtime, setting the stage for senior Alex Love’s game winner with 1:44 to go in the extra session.
Brown has started all seven games this season, playing all but 2:07. He has 68 saves, a .550 save percentage, and a 9.71 goals against average. He is 12th in the nation in saves per game (11.86), 19th in save percentage, and 25th in goals against average.
Hobart (4-3, 1-0 NEC) traveled to Moon Township, Pennsylvania, for its next contest, an NEC showdown with Robert Morris University (1-6, 0-1). The Colonials host third-ranked Maryland on Tuesday, before the Statesmen visited on Saturday, March 28. The opening faceoff was scheduled for 1 p.m.
