Hobart 3V8 wins Liberty League Boat of the Week award

The Hobart College third varsity eight was named the Liberty League Men’s Rowing Boat of the Week by the conference office today. The Statesmen earned a gold medal in the Men’s Varsity Eight – DII/DIII event at the Knecht Cup this past weekend.

Coxswain Amanda Salzman, Billy Bird, Nick Faiello, Jordan Rooth, Brady Phillips, Dylan Brodie, Sam Menchel, Alexander Sanford and Nick Snow powered the Statesmen eight across the line with a time of 6:30.42. Hobart finished 6.63 seconds clear of second place Rollins. Mary Washington rounded out the top three, finishing 4.61 seconds behind Rollins.

This was the ninth consecutive year the Statesmen have competed in the Knecht Cup. The gold medal marks the third straight year that the third varsity eight has stood on the podium, collecting silver medals in 2013 and 2014.

The Statesmen will be back on the water on April 24, when they seek their 10th consecutive Liberty League title. The championship will take place on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, New York.
