William Smith sophomore goalie Sarah Honan was named the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, April 21st.
Honan made 26 saves and sported an 8.00 goals against average and a .619 save percentage in the Herons’ wins over Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend. In a 10-6 win over the Golden Knights, she stopped a career-high 17 shots and shared a game-high with four ground balls. Honan made nine saves and recorded three ground balls in an 11-10 win at St. Lawrence on Saturday, April 18th.
Honan has a 10.53 goals against average and a .494 save percentage this season. She is sporting a 5-6 record in goal. Honan leads the Liberty League in saves per game (9.31) and ranks second in save percentage.
The Herons hosted Skidmore and Rensselaer this weekend for their final regular season games. William Smith took on Skidmore on Friday, April 24 at 4 p.m., and then faced Rensselaer on Saturday, April 25 at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Herons closed out their 2015 season with a 15-8 victory over Rensselaer.
