Two members of the William Smith College squash team were honored at the annual Heron awards banquet on April 21. First-year Michelann Denton received the Irene Graves Harer ’28 Squash Award and sophomore Brooke Hayes earned the Lauren Michaels ’05 Squash Coach’s Award.
Denton shared a team-high with 14 victories in her rookie season. She posted a 14-5 overall record. Denton was a perfect 8-0 at the No. 6 spot. She added a 2-0 record at No. 2 and a 1-0 mark at No. 5. Denton went 3-5 at the No. 3.
Hayes logged a 13-6 overall record. She played at Nos. 4-7 this season. Hayes won the lone match she played at No. 4 and went 1-1 at No. 5. She posted a 6-3 record at the No. 6 spot and went 5-2 at No. 7. Hayes registered a 7-3 mark in her final 10 matches of the season.
William Smith finished the year posting a 2-1 record to take second place in the Epps Cup at the 2015 College Squash Association Team National Championships. The Herons wrapped up the year with a 14-6 overall record.
