Hobart College senior Matt Johnson and junior Jay Puleo were named to the 2014-15 Liberty League Men’s Golf All-Academic team.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.2.
An economics major and co-captain, Johnson competed in 15 rounds this season, logging an 87 scoring average. He finished in 16th place at the Oswego State Fall Invitational, carding a season-low round of 78.
Johnson competed in 48.5 career rounds in his four years on the golf team, posting an 86.0 career scoring average.
It’s the second year in a row Puleo earned a spot on the all-academic squad. A biochemistry major, he played in 10 rounds this season, recording an 86.9 scoring average. He carded a season-low round of 80 at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational. He tied for 12th place in the tournament, helping Hobart to a fifth place team finish.
Puleo has played in 27.5 career rounds in his three years and is sporting an 87.6 scoring average.
This year the Statesmen competed in 11 tournaments as a team. Hobart earned a season-best third place finish at the Nazareth Invitational.
