William Smith College rising junior Erin Condon and rising sophomore Lizzy Weingast will serve as the student-athlete representatives on the Heron Society Board.
Founded in 1983 to celebrate the many student-athletes and coaches who bring increased recognition to William Smith College for their individual and team accomplishments, the Heron Society works to support the entire athletics program with financial assistance, to increase visibility for William Smith athletics, and to promote camaraderie among William Smith alumnae, parents, and friends.
Condon and Weingast will serve as the voice of the student-athletes on the board. They will work with student-athlete Heron Society membership and speak to the board on the student-athlete experience and perspective. Condon and Weingast take over for three-year student-athlete representative, William Smith soccer’s Madeline Buckley, who graduated this May.
Condon competed in six regattas for the HWS sailing team this year. She represented William Smith sailors at the ICSA Women’s National Championship in Newport, Rhode Island. Condon also received The Classes of 1994 Award at this year’s Heron Awards Banquet. The award is presented to a member of the sailing team who exhibited extraordinary commitment to the welfare of the team, who through the donation of time and effort beyond practice, while not apparent in mere racing performance, ensured the current and future success of the sailing team.
Weingast played in 18 games in the inaugural Heron ice hockey season. She notched three points on a goal and two assists. Weingast logged her first collegiate goal and added an assist in William Smith’s second game at UMass-Boston.
