The Hobart College golf team was one of 34 Division III teams to earn the 2015 Golf Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award.
To qualify for the GCAA Team Academic Award, a college or university must submit the GPA of each player on its official squad list. Only those teams with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher are recognized. Less than 12 percent of the 291 NCAA Division III men’s golf teams nationwide received the honor.
Senior Matt Johnson and junior Jay Puleo led the Statesmen in the classroom. They represented Hobart on the 2015 Liberty League All-Academic Team, which requires a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average.
On the course, Hobart posted its best finish of the season at the Nazareth Invitational, taking third place. Sophomore Harry Hagen competed in seven rounds during the fall and led the team in scoring average at 80.7. Senior Eric Mills was the only Statesman in the lineup for all 18 rounds, finishing second on the team with an 82.3 scoring average.
Hobart will open the 2015-16 season on Sept. 5, when the Statesmen compete in the Pitt-Bradford Invitational.
