Having shared the stage with major country acts like Eric Church, Toby Keith and Eli Young Band, Mockingbird Sun takes the stage at Hobart and William Smith to kick off Spirit Week 2015. The three-piece country act from Nashville was formed in 2010. Playing songs from their album, “This is Real Life,” Mockingbird Sun has topped the iTunes Country charts and kicks off a nationwide tour in October.
The free welcome back concert will be hosted Sunday, Sept. 27 on the Quad and will also include several popular food trucks to add to the festivities. The concert begins at 2 p.m.
From Macarollin’ and Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza to Skippy’s Ice Cream and J & S Fried Dough Truck, students will get a chance to sample a range of delicious foods. There will also be an airbrush tattoo station available as well as a sugar cookie stand where students can decorate baked goods in HWS colors. The food trucks will start serving at 1:30 p.m.
“It’ll be a day of fun and relaxation before the semester gets intense,” says Genesis Gonzalez ’17, a member of the Campus Activities Board (CAB), which is sponsoring the event.
Following Spirit Week, the HWS community will welcome back families and alums for Homecoming and Family Weekend, which runs Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4.
