Thelander P’16 Gives PIR Real Estate Talk

The Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education will welcome Garrett Thelander P’16 as the next guest of the Professionals in Residence (PIR) series. He is the executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield, a diversified real estate company, exclusively representing owners in the sale, lease and/or financing of their properties.

As PIR guest, Thelander will give his talk, “A Career in Real Estate,” on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Stern 201. He will also be available for one-on-one appointments with students on Friday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Trinity 109.

Based out of Cushman & Wakefield’s New York City office, Thelander is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Capital Services division of the company. He is also responsible for recruiting and expanding Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Services division.

Previously, Thelander was Executive Managing Director – Capital Services at Massey Knakal Realty Services. Prior to his work at Massey Knakal, Thelander was Executive Vice President at Anglo Irish Bank and  Director of the Mortgage Finance Group for Kimco Realty Corporation.

Thelander has held senior level positions at Euro Hypo Bank, Deutsche Bank and UFJ Bank. He has direct experience with borrowers, mezzanine lenders, A-Note holders, and special servicers of loans with major developers in all regions of the country. Some of Thelander’s relationships include: Thor Equities, The Carlyle Group, AREA Property Partners and Forest City Enterprises. In his more than two decades as a real estate lender, Thelander has been responsible for originating and closing almost $10.0 billion in loans.
