Exploring a Career in Finance

Representatives from M&T Bank, Amy Decillis Bard ’94 and David W. Gibbons ’94, will deliver the talk, “A Career in Finance,” on Thursday, Oct. 15 as part of the Professional in Residence (PIR) series offered by the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. The discussion will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Stern 201.

Later this month, on Thursday, Oct. 29, Bard and Gibbons will be available for one-on-one appointments with students from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Trinity 109. Those interested must RSVP for both the presentation and an appointment by emailing cso@hws.edu.

Bard has served with M&T Bank since 1994. She currently serves as vice president and private banking team leader in Buffalo, N.Y., and is responsible for advising clients on their financing and liquidity needs. She provides strategic advice and information on a range of banking and custom credit solutions, such as deposit products, lines of credit, mortgages and bridge loan financing. In addition, Bard coordinates a range of specialized services available through M&T’s wealth advisory team, including investment management, insurance and family governance. She graduated from William Smith College with a degree in economics, and as a student, she studied abroad in Switzerland.

Gibbons serves as vice president of securities in Rochester, N.Y. After graduating from Hobart College with a degree in history, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Rochester and went into finance, first obtaining a position as an internal wholesaler with Putnam Investments. During two decades, Gibbons has worked in positions of increasing responsibility at M&T Bank, and as vice president, now manages a team of 11 and assets of $205 million. As an alumnus, Gibbons serves on the board of directors for the Statesmen Athletic Association and has volunteered as a class agent for 15 years. As a student, he was a member of the football team and Kappa Sigma fraternity.
