The Office of Communications at Hobart and William Smith has been honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with one Gold and one Silver award in the CASE District II 2016 Accolades Awards Program that recognizes institutions and professionals in higher education for exceptional work across specialties ranging from development and alumni relations to photography and websites.
A portfolio of 10 photographs taken by Chief Photographer Kevin Colton won a Gold award in the Excellence in Photography category and will automatically advance to the national CASE Circle of Excellence contest. The photographs were taken between October 2014 and June 2015 and were featured in This Week in Photos galleries.
A video, “HWS: Preparing Students for Lives of Consequence,” filmed and edited by Videographer Andrew Markham ’10, won a Silver award in the Video Features Student Recruitment category. The approximately four-minute video features alums from varying class years across professions and industries reflecting on what made their time at HWS significant.
The largest of the eight CASE districts, CASE District II is a regional organization of advancement professionals in the areas of alumni relations, communications and philanthropy. Last fall, #HWSday, the Colleges’ annual social media event, received an honorable mention in the 2014 Accolades Program. The Colleges also received one Gold award, three Silver awards and one Bronze award in the 2013 competition.
