Abigail Emerson '08 of Acton, Mass., has been chosen to participate in the U.S. Model House of Representatives, April 17-21 in Washington, D.C.
The program is sponsored by the American Youth Scholarship Foundation, and is set up to have students — one from each Congressional district — take part in a simulated session of the House. The foundation was established in 2002 “for the betterment of community through assistance in educational pursuits,” according to its Web site.
She and the other participants will write and vote on bills and hearings in the committee rooms. Events will be hosted by the Democratic and Republican national committees and other groups.
At HWS, Emerson, a political science major, has been involved in ORAP.
