Economics major and environmental science minor Carlos McInnes ’17 will join Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company as an intern in the company’s Rochester, N.Y. office this summer.
Earlier this year, the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education hosted an on-campus recruiting event where McInnes learned about the internship, and after three rounds of interviews and by demonstrating his interest in the industry and his work ethic, he was offered and accepted the position.
“This job is about expanding my capacity to learn through meaningful relations with clients as I attempt to establish a foundation for future progression,” says McInnes, adding that he is looking forward to “gaining valuable experience in the financial industry that will prepare me for my life after college.”
During the internship, he will establish and develop a client base as he learns the general ropes of the insurance industry at the national financial services firm.
Based in Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.
