The Colleges’ annual social media extravaganza #HWSDay, a celebration of all things Hobart and William Smith, will take place on Wednesday, April 13. Members of the HWS community, including current students, faculty, staff and alums, are encouraged to show off their school spirit on social media.
During the day, a portion of the main page of the HWS website will transform into a live feed, displaying posts made by community members on campus and across the country using #HWSDay. Each Twitter, Instagram and Facebook post using #HWSDay will help unlock campus announcements such as the 2016 Commencement speaker.
Students will have the opportunity to win prizes by participating in the #HWSDay photo contest. This year, there are 10 categories including: best campus photo, best HWS-related meme or .gif, best Seneca Lake photo and best throwback photo.
Prizes include HWS gear, resume feedback from a member of the Board of Trustees, and dinner at the President’s house. The winner of this year’s “Most Versatile Participant (MVP)” award will receive his/her name engraved on the #HWSDay trophy in addition to an Apple TV. The winning #HWSDay photos from each category will also be featured in This Week in Photos on the HWS website.
In order to participate, posts must be published from public accounts and use #HWSday. Be sure to follow HWS on social media for more information.
