This summer, Alexandra Cirra ’17 will join the Pace Energy and Climate Center (PECC) as a research intern, tackling projects on energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and policy initiatives related to sustainability.
Affiliated with Pace Law School at Pace University, the PECC is a think tank focused on legal, regulatory and policy matters regarding the environmental impacts of energy use. A double major in public policy and environmental studies, Cirra says she is excited about this “amazing opportunity to combine my two areas of study into the perfect internship.”
Cirra discovered the internship and connected with the PECC through the HWS Career Network and the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. She networked with John Bowie ’05, an energy and climate law adviser at the PECC, who encouraged her to apply for the position.
With hopes of pursuing a career in environmental law, Cirra says she feels confident that law school will be the right decision for me. I know that the work I’ll do this summer will be work that I can be proud of.”
On campus, she is a writing colleague, a former EcoRep, a contributing editor of The Odyssey, a student assistant at Career Services, and a research assistant for Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Robin Lewis.
