For students interested in Beyond Borders, the Colleges’ global leadership program, there will be an informational meeting, giving students the chance to learn more about the international academic experience. There will be two interest meetings – one on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Office of Intercultural Affairs and a second meeting on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. in Stern 103.
Beyond Borders is a semester-long program which promotes dialogue, responsible engagement and action between young global leaders in the U.S. and South Africa. Through the program, students work with peers from Stellenbosch University’s Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert Institute for Leadership Development in South Africa to understand and address critical social issues affecting both the U.S. and South Africa.
The independent study for juniors and seniors is enrolling for spring 2017.
The program is among the many significant international opportunities available through HWS. Recently, as part of Princeton Review’s “The Best 381 Colleges 2017,” Hobart and William Smith were ranked seventh in the nation for study abroad opportunities and global programming.
Students interested in learning more about Beyond Borders should attend one of the interest meetings. For more information, e-mail Solomé Rose, interim chief diversity officer and CCL program manager for global and community leadership programs, at email@example.com.
Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 21.
