Virginia Bacheler '73 recently received a bronze Telly award for her video “To Market To Market: 100 Years at the Public Market.”
The video focuses on the Rochester Public Market, and includes interviews with vendors, urban planners, the city historian and others. The market has been on North Union Street since 1905, and has been operating since the 1830s.
Her video was funded by a Scholarly Incentive Grant from State University College at Brockport and originally broadcast on WXXI-TV on June 5, which was the actual centennial of the market.
Bacheler is associate dean for the School of Arts and Performance at SUC-Brockport. The Telly awards are presented for achievement in television, cable, corporate video and Web design.
She showed the video at a December 2005 gathering of the William Smith Club in Rochester.
