Ciletti writes chapter for new book

Elena Ciletti, chair of the art department, is the author of a chapter, “Gran Macchina e Bellezza: Looking at the Gentileschi Judiths,” in a book, “The Artemisia Files: Artemisia Gentileschi for Feminists and Other Thinking People,” edited by Mieke Bal and published by the University of Chicago Press.

Copies are now available at the College Store.

Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1653) was one of the first women artists to achieve recognition in her own time and was rediscovered by feminist art historians in the 1970s.

Ciletti, who joined the faculty in 1973, holds a bachelor's degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's and doctorate from the University of Chicago.
