Phil Buttafuoco '83, former assistant athletic director at Hobart College, was recently named executive director of the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Buttafuoco, former commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference, served as the administrator of the coaches' group last year, in his former position.
He served as commissioner of the ECAC from 1998 to 2006, was responsible for the implementation of a business model that provided a foundation for the conference to grow its officiating, championship and student-athlete honors programs.
Buttafuoco has been instrumental in the growth and success of the sport of lacrosse over the last several years. He served as assistant and then senior assistant director of championships for the NCAA and administered the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships from 1990 to 1998.
The coaches association is comprised of individual collegiate coaches. Its founding sponsors are Harrow Sports, STX and Warrior.
The group's 2006 Clinic will be Dec. 7-10 at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott Hotel. Last year, more than 1,000 college and high school coaches attended.
