“Crank,” a movie written and directed by Mark Neveldine '95, will be released nationwide by Lions Gate Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment on Friday, Sept. 1.
Starring Jason (Transporter 2) Statham as Chev Chelios, the film tells the story of a hit man who learns that a poison injected into his body will kill him if his heart rate drops below a certain point. He then exacts his revenge on the people who injected him before he takes his last breath. The cast also includes Efren Ramirez as Kaylo, Amy Smart as Eve and Dwight Yoakam as Doc Miles.
The film is based on an original screenplay by Neveldine and Brian Taylor, both of whom direct in their debut.
While at HWS, Neveldine, originally from Watertown, N.Y., a drama/psychology major, was a dean's list student and member of the Statesmen football team. He has been an actor and director of many plays in New York City and was cinematographer for 2002's “This Beautiful Life,” starring Ned Beatty. He and Taylor were executive producers for “The Great Pretenders” in 2005.
