Minor Myers, jr., HWS provost and dean of the faculty, was recalled at recent ceremonies at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.
Myers served at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1984 to 1989, when he accepted the appointment as president of IWU. He served there until his death in July 2003.
At the May convocation, Jessica Dixon, president of the Class of 2006, recalled something Myers said at their first-year convocation. He “greeted us with the findamentally simple question: “What's your passion?'
“With these words he challenged us to not only discover but also pursue our passions proudly thoughout our college career and beyond.
“Although we are the last class inducted by President Myers, his wisdom will impact not only our class, but also those we encounter in our future by openly living his words.”
