Blackwell Award recipient Novello to speak in Rochester

Dr. Antonia C. Novello, the first woman and the first Hispanic to be named United States Surgeon General, will speak Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Monroe Community College.

Her talk will be part of the meeting sponsored by MCC's Homeland Security Management Institute.

Novello, New York State's health commissioner since 1999, received the Elizabeth Blackwell Award in ceremonies in February 1991. While a practicing physician, she specialized in pediatric kidney diseases and AIDS.
