Temple offers workshop in Argentina

Charles Temple of the HWS education faculty recently delivered a workshop to 55 educators in Montecarlo, Misiones province, Argentina.

He spoke with teachers who work with students in the primary grades and live in rural areas, including many Guarani, who reside in the northern outpost close to the borders with Brazil and Paraguay.

Temple, who presented in Spanish with Alan Crawford, professor of education emeritus at California State University in Los Angeles, has been preparing the educators to teach reading and writing with nearly 3,000 books that had been donated by the Fundación Leer, a private foundation based in Buenos Aires.

Crawford and Temple also attended meetings at the Fundación Leer offices, and will next visit El Salvador to work with a USAID-sponsored project delivering teacher training in literacy education to 3,500 rural teachers.
