President Mark D. Gearan has been named chairman of the committee to secure a new executive director for Campus Compact, succeeding Elizabeth Holander, who recently retired after 10 years.
Gearan served as chair of the Providence, R.I.-based Campus Compact, a 20-year-old coalition of nearly 1,000 college and university presidents dedicated to promoting the civic purposes of higher education, until his term expired in July.
John DeGioia, president of Georgetown University, has been elected the new chair of the Campus Compact board. He will be assisted by vice chairs Judith Hansen, president of Southwestern Oregon Community College; and Toni Murdock, president of Antioch University Seattle.
