The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum granted its $5,000 Aviation/Space Writers Award to Margaret A. Weitekamp, Assistant Professor in the Women Studies Program. The grant supports a writer as he or she prepares to publish on aerospace topics. Weitekamp's book, a revision of her dissertation reconstructing the history of a cancelled 1960s women's astronaut testing program, is under contract to the Johns Hopkins University Press for its New Series in NASA History. Weitekamp's work won unanimous selection for the award from among 32 proposals.
