Colleges mourn Anna Urbano

Anna L. Urbano, a well-loved friend to many in the Colleges’ community, passed away on Friday, Sept. 22 at Rochester General Hospital. During her 13 years of service for Sodexho USA she reached out to generations of students, inspiring a sincere love and appreciation in many.

“Anna was cherished by the students,” said Pat Heieck, catering manager for SAGA. “She was such a kind and generous woman, when she retired people lined up to hug and kiss her.”

Urbano was known for her deep loyalty to the Colleges, where she made it a badge of honor to attend as many sporting events as possible, including every football game of the season. She was a member of the Geneva Senior Citizens and St. Francis de Sales Church. Before her time at the Colleges she worked for Howell’s Diner, Club 86 and CVS.

She is survived by her son Frank, of Geneva, brothers Al Puma, Anthony Puma and Joseph Puma; her sisters, Theresa Picillo, Angeline Deardorff, Mary King, Rosemary Theres and Jessie Hill; grandchildren in Geneva, N.Y., Alaska, Connecticut and North Carolina, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church. Following the service, burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
