Etin Anwar, assistant professor of religious studies, recently had an editorial published in the Democrat and Chronicle. Her Oct. 3 editorial, “Ramadan fasting teaches Muslims many American virtues,” addressed the ethical and moral discipline of the Islamic holy month.
“Ramadan is the month when Muslims could and should promote dialogue within their own communities and with other faith communities,” she wrote. “After all, mutual dialogue is the only remedy for the shared and painful history between Muslim and Western civilizations.”
The editorial was also published on the Al Jazeerah Web site on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Read Ramadan fastings
