The Rt. Rev. Jack M. McKelvey, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese Rochester and a member of the HWS Board of Trustees, announced plans for his retirement at the recent diocesan convention.
As part of his address on Friday, Oct. 27, he called for the election of the Eighth Bishop of Rochester. That election will likely be about 18 months from now “because it does take a diocese 18 months to two years to conduct the process and to elect their bishop,” he said.
The plan is that an Election Convention will be held Dec. 1, 2007 and the elected person will join him in Rochester in early February 2008, with an Ordination or Service of Installation on Saturday, April 19, 2008. McKelvey said he will not retire before then.
