The Office of Residential Education recently named Brian Fitzgerald '09 of Cazenovia, N.Y., as Resident Assistant of the Month for November.
He “embodies the leadership skills and spirit that Resident Assistants at Hobart and William Smith Colleges strive to achieve. Brian has worked to create a positive environment for the residents on the third floor of Hale. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by his residents, fellow RAs, and the professional staff in the office.
“He is a quiet leader who is dedicated to fulfilling his RA responsibilities. Brian’s hard work and enthusiasm for his position is evident through his willingness to pick up additional on-duty shifts, timely and detailed weekly reports and overall positive environment that he has created with his residents. Brian’s bulletin board is always updated and maintained in order to increase communication with his residents.
“Through his experience as a Resident Assistant, Brian has demonstrated his abilities as a strong member of the Residential Education team. Brian works in many capacities on campus: he can be seen not only as an RA but also doing unlocks in the residence halls, working as a student worker in the Res Ed Office, working in the classroom as a Biochemistry major with a demanding work load, completing the EMT course at the Finger Lakes Community College, and much more.
“Brian demonstrates his organizational skills, time management skills and his dedication to the various roles in with he serves. Overall, Brian has shown extraordinary leadership.”
