America Reads tutors honored

Six America Reads tutors were recently recognized for going “above and beyond” to engage their students during the fall semester.

They took a specific interest in their students’ hobbies, skills and reading challenges, and used extra resources and creative lesson planning to make reading fun. As a result, the younger students now have more confidence and interest in reading.

The HWS students recognized were Nick Cream '07, who worked at North Street Elementary School; Kaleigh DeLap '10, West Street Elementary School; Sarah Holland '09, Romulus Central School; Maleah Piazza '09, Border City Multi-age School; Carolyn Pluchino '10, Lafayette Elementary School in Waterloo; and Katherine Schuster '09, St. Francis-St. Stephen School in Geneva.
