Mary Colin will retire Friday, Jan. 12, after 40 years of service to Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
She started on Jan. 9, 1967, in Alumni House and then became a member of the staff in the Office of Financial Aid, where she has worked most of her 40 years.
In a note to the community, Beth Turner, director of financial aid, said Colin “has been a dedicated employee who was always willing to share her warm smile and contagious laugh with parents and students alike. She has assisted countless students and families in their efforts to secure financial assistance, a process that can be both daunting and trying to say the least. Always willing to lend that extra hand, Mary also enjoyed participating in the graduation activities here on campus. It’s no wonder students continue to stop by to say hello to Mary long after they’ve graduated from HWS.
“Many will miss you Mary but none more than your financial aid family! We wish you all the best today and always! Congratulation and Happy Retirement!!!!”
