Temple uses manual translated by Hobart student to lead workshop

Three dozen teachers and administrators from the network of schools and colleges administered throughout Haiti by L'Église Methodiste D'Haiti attended a workshop on active learning and literacy improvement, Jan. 3-6 in Port au Prince.

Charlie Temple of the Colleges' Education Department led the workshop with Dawn Tankersley, a Texas-based trainer for the International Step by Step Association of London.

Workshop participants used a 50-page training manual that was translated into French by Hobart student Willy Golden '10 of Manhattan and Skidmore student Yolande Schutter, daughter of HWS professor Catherine Gallouët of the French and Francophone studies faculty.

The session was organized by the Open Society Institute's Step by Step program and funded by CIDA of the Canadian government.
