Former administrator Henderson dies

James L. Henderson, 64, an administrator at HWS for more than two decades, died Friday, Jan. 26.

A member of the Class of 1975, he began working here four years earlier, as a counselor in the Office of Minority Affairs. He was the first director of the Developmental Learning Center, later assistant dean in the Office of Intercultural Affairs.

After his retirement, he was appointed dean of students at Newark High School.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; and their two children, Tyrone and Debbie; two brothers and a sister, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Palmisano Funeral Home; the funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at Trinity Episcopal Church on South Main Street.
