Cadence Whittier, associate professor in the Dance department, and two William Smith alumnae, Chevon Stewart '04 and Sue Rainey '02, performed in the recent Cool New York Dance Festivalin Brooklyn, N.Y.
The festival of approximately 60 choreographers/dance companies was held Jan. 25-28 and Feb. 1-4 at the John Ryan Theatre in Brooklyn.
Whittier, who was invited to perform as a solo artist, presented two previously choreographed works: “Off” (2005) and “Juice Concentrate” (2006). A member of the faculty since 2000, she holds a bachelor's and a master of fine arts from the University of Utah.
Stewart, a psychology major who was a member of the Laurel Society, Koshare and Hai Timiai, performed in “IN REM” with AdrienneCelesteFadjoDANCE. Rainey, a dance major and public policy studies minor, who graduated cum laude and was a member of Koshare, performed in “Running on Time” with Keila Cordova Dances. Both dance companies are based in New York City.
