Mike Black, manager of WEOS-FM, the Colleges' radio station since 1988, is one of seven people named as General Manager of the Year.
He said he was the only public radio station manager who was a finalist and this was the second year in a row as a finalist.
Radio Ink magazine founded the Radio Wayne Awards in 1992 to honor those salespeople, managers and broadcasters who have committed their careers to excellence in radio.
The awards are named in honor of “Radio Wayne Cornils, a career broadcaster who did whatever he could to make it a better place for all to work and prosper. In addition to being a small-market broadcaster, Cornils was senior vice president of radio at the National Association of Broadcasters and executive vice president of the Radio Advertising Bureau.
Black, a member of the HWS staff since 1988, holds a bachelor's degree from State University of New York at Brockport.
