William Smith student creates purr-fect production

It seemed like a tall order: take one of the most popular shows on Broadway and bring it to Geneva High School’s stage. But Jessica Zippin ’07 was up to the task. The William Smith Senior was in charge of choreography for Cats, the high-energy musical that dazzled audiences over the past weekend.

“It was great, says Zippin of working with her High School charges. “We all had a lot of fun.

Zippan’s experience as a choreographer for Koshare and a senior dance concert helped her tackle what she described as “a huge production. Zippan carefully studied tapes of the Broadway show before trying to direct choreography for Cats. “We all worked very hard, she said, “but it was received so well that it made it all worth it.

Missed the first production? The Smith Opera House is planning to bring the musical to their stage this coming August.
