Transforming the Generations: Enduring Lessons of the Holocaust

The community commemoration of Yom HaShoah, the time set aside to remember those who perished during the Holocaust, will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at the Jewish Community Center, 1200 Edgewood Ave., Rochester.

Daan Braveman, president of Nazareth College in Rochester, who participated on the 2006 March of Remembrance and Hope in Poland with students of Nazareth and Hobart and William Smith Colleges, will deliver the keynote address.

Anja-Maria Bassimir '07 will speak representing the HWS students who made the trip with Professor Michael Dobkowski of the Religious Studies Department.

Survivors of the Holocaust and those who risked their lives to save others will be honored.

A student representative from the March will also offer reflections as will two teen participants from the Federation’s Zikaron Trip of Remembrance to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

An exhibit of student writings, photographs and art work from The March of Remembrance and Hope and the Zikaron Trip of Remembrance will be on display outside the Auditorium.
