H. Wesley Perkins, professor of sociology, was invited to speak on a panel about “Sociology Beyond the Academy at a conference on April 15 at Yale University. The conference, sponsored by the Yale Graduate School, was devoted to “One Hundred and Thirty-Three Years of Sociology at Yale.
Perkins who received his Ph.D. from Yale spoke about the applications of his theory and research on Social Norms to reducing alcohol and substance abuse and other risk behaviors in schools and communities throughout the United States.
Perkins is the chair of the anthropology and sociology department at Hobart and William Smith. He also holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue and two master's degrees from Yale.
