Outstanding students cited by three groups

Outstanding HWS tutors in three programs — America Reads, America Counts and Jumpstart Geneva — were recently honored for their work during Spring 2007 semester.

America Reads: Alyssa Dechow '09, Kate Dorward '07, Kelsey Lagana '10, Darcy Lepore '10 Katherine Schuster '09 and Kayla Shoemaker '10 were recognized at the sixth annual Book Bash for their exceptional work with children at six elementary schools in Geneva and the surrounding area. Dorward was selected as “Tutor of the Year” for dedicating four semesters to America Reads.

America Counts: Emma Daley, Casey Franklin, Emily Gasperetti and James Secor, all of the Classes of 2010, work with junior high students in Peter Holm's eighth-grade math class at Geneva Middle School.

Jumpstart Geneva: Outstanding Jumpstart Geneva Corps Members for the semester were Ken Camara '08, Kaitlyn Carlock '09, Elizabeth Fife '10 and Leslie Hopke '10. They and others in the Corps work 10 hours each week over two semesters with pre-schoolers at Geneva Head Start and the Geneva Agri-Business Child Development. Carlock and Camara, one representing each site, were selected as “Corps Members of the Year.”
