Chamber of Commerce honors Regan

Jan Regan, owner-operator of Jan Regan Photography, was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce at a dinner Wednesday, June 6 at the Geneva Country Club.

Regan told of coming to Geneva as a writer-photographer at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1978, expecting to stay “a couple of years, while her boyfriend completed graduate school. That boyfriend, Rocco “Chip Capraro, is now her husband and associate dean at Hobart College.

Regan was honored for her work with numerous community groups including Geneva Community Projects, the Seneca Lake Whale Watch, the Musselman triathlon, Benchmark Geneva, the Boys and Girls Clubs Mentoring Program, Ontario County Day Care, Geneva Human Rights Commission, and the Ontario County Arts Council.

The award has been given annually for the last 42 years to an individual “who has unselfishly given to the community and who has created a more dignified, unique place in which we all work and live.
