HWS Day speaker to be radio guest

On Thursday, June 28, “Out of Bounds,” the weekly interview program on WEOS-FM hosted by Tish Pearlman, will feature Ellen Staurowsky as her guest.

Staurowsky is a professor and graduate chair in the Department of Sport Management and Media at Ithaca College and a former director of William Smith Athletics. She has published widely in academic journals and is co-author of a book, “College Athletes for Hire: The Evolution and Legacy of the NCAA Amateur Myth” with Allen Sack. She participated in the HWS Day activities Only A Game: The Role of Sport in Society in April 2007.

Pearlman and Staurowsky will discuss gender equity and Title IX, athletics and academic achievement, misappropriation of American Indian imagery in sport among other topics.
