During the week that ended on Friday, June 29, the Colleges hosted a week-long co-ed soccer day camp for 60 children ages 7 to 14. The camp was directed by WS Soccer Head Coach Aliceann Wilber, with assistance from seven coaches — past or present members of the WS soccer team or high school players.
The camp combined various coordination, agility and movement exercises with technical work and game play. The players were divided into teams that accumulated points during the week, culminating in the final day’s Soccerfest.
“We keep kids enthused by a combination of technical and fun games, said Wilber, who has taught the camp for about 15 years. “Kids seem to come back year after year.
Despite the “beastly hot afternoon weather, most campers were able to maintain their enthusiasm.
“They’re tired and hot but their spirits were good, said Wilber.
