The May 30 Finger Lakes Times ran an article titled “Work begins for new HWS building featuring the construction on Smith Green. The three-story, 30,000-square-foot brick building is expected to be finished by the fall of 2003. It will house classrooms, conference rooms, offices and student work areas. It will house the departments of anthropology, sociology, political science, economics, and the year-old department of Asian languages and culture, Colleges officials announced last summer. The lead contractor is Heuber Brewer Construction Co. of Syracuse. The construction manager for the $6 million project is 1969 Hobart graduate Nathan Podkaminer. The lead architect, for KSS of Princeton, N.J., is Pamela Lucas Rew, a member of the William Smith Class of 1981.
